The University of California-Berkley, or simply CaL, as it is referred to, is a public university founded in 1868. It is a very prestigious university that is currently ranked #22 among national universities. Situated opposite SF Bay, the University of California is an urban university with nearly all freshmen dying to get a chance to stay on the campus. Cal truly represents California’s spirit, and it is a respected name in the educational institutions across the state.

Students of the University of California-Berkeley can join courses offered by 14 schools in Berkeley, such as journalism and optometry. The Haas School of Business is very popular for graduate students desirous of an MBA. There are also engineering, law, and education colleges in Berkeley for graduate students. 

The University of California-Berkeley is famous all over the country for its liberal student activism. Students of Cal started a peaceful movement called the Free Speech Movement in 1964 against a ban on political activities on the campus. Many notable personalities have passed out from the University of California-Berkeley in the past. These include actor John Cho, Jonny Moseley, an Olympic god medalist, and erstwhile Chief Justice of The Supreme Court Earl Warren. Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer was a professor at this prestigious University.
